Two rulers want our testimony and a soaked, furious town wants an answer. We give it a third choice instead. The Wachter sons confirm what sleeps in their mother’s bedroom. Father Lucian confirms the vampires. Sirius drops a Zone of Truth on a Baron who discovers that refusing to read a letter is much easier than explaining it. We propose Ireena, and the square goes up.
Izek takes our paladin in the demon hand. The Baron orders him killed. Fëanor answers with a lance of silver that ends the Vallakovich line on its own stage. The raven becomes an imp and dies to Osric’s sword. Sirius, still held, hugs Izek until he says “Hold.” Lady Wachter surrenders, and the crowd she fed for ten years does not accept it.
Then the bats come, and a burning horse, and the devil himself, here in person because the bones have spoiled his view of the town. He finds Ireena an acceptable ruler, drinks a man dry, and leaves us with three words.
Afterwards: a burgomistress who did not ask for the job, an attic with a cooling teleportation circle and a book we wish we had not read, a man freed from a closet, and Ireena’s first order. We walk into the Reformation Center with Izek, put two guards to sleep, and find the twins waiting in armchairs. Do not be boring. Stay past the credits.
