He Is The Land

Five strangers. Five heirlooms. One road west — and the devil owns it.

The mists part for a moment. Pull up a chair by the fire, and remember where the road has taken us.

Welcome, travellers. This is the party’s chronicle of Barovia — the story so far, the podcast of every session, and our own spoiler-free encyclopedia of the people, places, and prices of this grey country. If it’s written here, we learned it at the table; nothing is spoiled, because nothing is known before we know it.

Before next session

MID-FESTIVAL: the whole town is looking at us, and the rain is not helping. Behind us, one impossible evening: the doors upstairs opened — a lord ten years dead and “minutes fresh” (one bed, slept in on both sides) · a letter from the devil to the lady of the house (we read it; it favors the Baron) · the lovely, dim sons (“Mama’s room is verboten”“Is that Papa?”) · and behind the moaning door, Ireena, tending catatonic Stella — so Drew told her everything, and Ireena answered with the secret room: THE BONES. The escape (windows, “BLASPHEMY!”, one extremely convincing baby) → the bones home on the sub-altar — and the ground answered. We won one. Then the bill: Izek returned most of Fëanor (two days missing; a nice boy, boy height), took our letter to the Baron, and by crier: there have never been vampires in Vallaki · festival TOMORROW, mandatory · Henrik to the Reformation Center · Lady Wachter to hang — on our testimony. Overnight: Level 5, one resignation (“too rich for my blood”), one celestial horse (Clancy). Now: midday, torrential rain, a wicker sun with an empty ball, two dueling sermons both ending “They will attest” — and every soul in Vallaki turning to look at us. Session 14 opens our mouths.

  • Immediate business: decide whom we attest for — “There are no good choices.” / “Thanks.” / “My pleasure.”
  • Find Ireena — last confirmed helping us in the bones room; the record then loses her, and we are aware of how that reads.
  • Keep in mind: the bones are home but unguarded during mandatory attendance (the Ravens are watching); the letter is in the Baron’s coat; Henrik is in the RC in our place; the winery’s silence is now official (the raven never came; one meal a week at the inn); Bluto may or may not be inside the sea monster; never harm a raven. The full ledger lives in Quests & Threads.
