Milivoj breaks in a crowded hallway — he took the bones, for 300 gold and three missing boys, paid by a stranger with a hidden face and very clean shoes — and a paladin quoting liturgy about exactly how many hands a man needs is talked down to a deferred sentence. The Baron’s family crypt gives up a handful of custom nails; a reluctant headmistress names the abbot above Krezk as the only man in Barovia who might handle a demon in a box. Then dinner at Wachterhaus: a hostess who says the devil’s name freely and wants two men dead (“they just don’t know it”), a 50-gold commission, the name tested five times to an empty night — and a pet raven that reads as a fiend, overhears the least subtle covert conference in the history of espionage, and flies out of the house for good. Back at the Blue Water, Ireena stands on a stage for the first time in her life and sings a song she dreamed — two brothers, a stolen sun, a girl beneath the lake remade over and over — and upstairs, in a locked room, a letter from the Ravens of Barovia lies in the middle of the floor. In the morning, a smith glances at the party’s only evidence and names it on sight: “Oh. You’ve got Henrik’s nails.” Stay past the credits.
