The twins never raise a hand against us. They pour tea, and they talk. Four words in Elvish turn Izek on his own side, a teapot full of coloured smoke takes two of us out of the fight, and then four more words empty his eyes completely.
After that comes the long walk through the Reformation Center: two guards who can only say one sentence, a cosy room that takes a whole day out of Sirius, a sister bargaining through the walls, the notes on how you make and unmake a mind, and a cell so quiet that Henrik hasn't heard a voice in two days.

The twins never raised a hand against you. They poured tea and they talked.
Ilimir said four words to Izek in Elvish, and the biggest man in Vallaki turned on his sister instead, roaring at her to stay out of his head. Ivalice tipped her teapot onto the floor, and the coloured steam took Sirius and Osric where they stood. Drew shattered the pot. Lily woke Osric with the point of a knife. Then Ilimir spoke again, stare, orphan, instruction, all is well, and Izek's eyes emptied. "Your wish is my command," he said, and set the room on fire.
Drew's first ray of flame killed Ilimir where he stood. Sirius's smite knocked Izek down. Two guards could say only "stop right there," and they said it until they died. When Izek came back to himself and saw who they were, he said he had been to one of their weddings.
You found the sister in the nicest room in the building, and the room took a day from Sirius. She offered it back in exchange for her freedom, and with a story about the Baron's son. You didn't believe her. Izek walked in behind her and said, "Stay out of my head," for the last time.
You found her notes on the making and unmaking of a mind, and the words that set the guards free. Lily made sure the twins would never speak again. Down in the dark, behind a door that swallowed every sound, you found Henrik, who had not heard a voice in two days.
The Reformation Center is closed. Its prisoners are waiting for doctors. Sirius has met his horse again for the first time and is still trying to remember its name.
In the morning: a toy for a Vistani child, the road north, and the lake.
