Who: A small boy of St. Andral’s Orphanage — and, until Session 8, the vessel of a shadow demon. Asked his name, he answered: “I’m Mostly Felix.”
Where: The orphanage attic — demon-free, unconscious, breathing. We promised to come back for him.
Status: The demon is in the locket. The boy is just a boy.
First seen: Session 8, whittling with the kitchen’s biggest knife as the window light dimmed around him by itself.
The month of Felix
He arrived at the orphanage a month ago: found entirely unharmed and covered in blood beside his stabbed parents, with no explanation. Since then — children bruised in their sleep, shared nightmares, a boy named Cedric pushed from a window to his death, three boys fled in terror, and every upstairs bedpost carved with a faint rune in Infernal: “Mine.” The headmistress padlocked him in the attic.
The rest of Felix was pleased to chat — villains do love describing their plans. It had been working on the muscly specimen downstairs; it was too late to stop it; and it felt safe telling us because — correctly — “you’re not going to hurt this boy.” Then Drew slipped away to have Milivoj tied down, and it sighed — “do I have to do this early?” — and poured out of the child as black smoke and razor teeth.
The fight, in brief
Steel passed through it — silvered, sneak-attacked, nat-20’d — like it was mostly rumor. It slid through floors. It wore Drew. It drank from Osric’s chest and fattened. It tried Sirius and met warded steel and a sentence it did not expect. What worked was light: Fëanor’s radiance tore it to tatters, and Sirius’s burning blade shredded it into smoke that the open locket drank — and the lid snapped shut.
The locket (read this twice)
A rusted oval locket, an X scratched into the lid, held together by its own abjuration. Inside, an inscription in Celestial that none of us reads. What we understand, on good rolls and angelic intuition:
- It is the demon’s anchor to this plane — and its prison.
- Destroying it frees the demon, elsewhere. Not a win.
- It cannot get out unless someone opens the lid. Someone opened it this morning. For science. We will be more careful.
Working plan: somewhere warded and secret, and we tell no one.
Open questions
- Who was Felix before — and who stabbed his parents?
- What does the Celestial inscription say?
- Who made a prison-locket for a demon, and how did it end up around a small boy’s neck?
