The party’s ledger. If we owe it, worry about it, or can’t stop thinking about it, it’s on this page.
⚔️ Active
- Escort Ireena to Vallaki. The charge that has us on the road: four days’ travel, one done, three to go. Vallaki has high walls and a church Strahd reportedly cannot enter. Given by Ismark, Session 4.
- The man in the tent. A stranger at Tser Pool spoke all five of our names and said we are expected. Session 6 opens with us walking into that tent.
- Keep an eye out for Gertruda. Mary’s missing daughter. A half-promise, honestly made. Ismark fears she’s dead; the castle and the witches of Berez are the grimmer alternatives.
👁️ Watch-list
Not quests. Worries.
- Lily and the pies. Two mornings now she has eaten Granny’s pies without a word, without noticing. Vivid dreams she can’t remember, a craving that’s growing. Nobody eats another pie.
- Sirius, post-bite. Strahd drank from him as a “token of fealty.” Fingernails fine, appetite enormous but aimed at bacon, strength back with a night’s rest. We are keeping watch all the same. Black pudding is the designated test, should we ever find any.
- “One of my pups managed to grab you… it will recover, and I have others.” Strahd said it in passing. We don’t know what his “pups” are. We’d like to before one grabs someone again.
- The lights on the road. Crying “help me” from the trees. We didn’t follow — and we told ourselves we’d look again on the way back. That promise is on the books.
🧩 The mystery of the heirlooms
Five keepsakes dragged five strangers through the mists. Four have now answered to this land:
| Keepsake | Bearer | What Barovia has said about it |
|---|---|---|
| Tattered banner, bird-like sigil | Osric | The same sigil crowns the Gates of Barovia — “the crown jewel in the Strahd empire.” |
| Raven feather | Sirius | Ravens here are good luck; Ismark called the feather a good omen. |
| Flat stone, three-pointed star | Fëanor | Carved over and over into a roadside menhir, below a winged woman with three eyes. It glows at the new moon — in a land with no moon. |
| Lacquered dire-wolf tooth | Lily | ”The tooth will help keep mending what cannot otherwise be healed.” This land is crawling with dire wolves. |
| Amber-resin pendant, shifting runes | Drew | Nothing. Yet. The cult’s relic-alcoves held a lump of amber resin — and a great white feather. |
Open questions: Why does Osric’s family banner carry Strahd’s imperial sigil? Who is the winged woman with three eyes? What happens when Drew’s amber finally speaks?
✅ Kept & done
- Bury Rose, Thorn, and the maid — done, beyond the mists of Death House. They thanked us and named the devil.
- Refuse the altar — the house demanded one death; it got a broken altar and a shattered crystal heart instead.
- Bury the old burgomaster — carried the coffin the long mile, dug the grave, stood witness. For Ismark and Ireena.
- Free Doru — not the rescue his father prayed for, but mercy, given as gently as this land allows.
- Return Lancelot to Mary — one purely good deed in a bad country.
