Who: A woman of the Village of Barovia; owner of Lancelot; mother of the missing Gertruda.
Status: Home, grieving, with her dog at least returned.
First met: Session 4, knocking at the burgomaster’s door after dark.
What we know
- Her daughter Gertruda has gone missing. Mary came to us frantic and inconsolable, begging us to find her.
- We gave Lancelot back to her — one good thing — and promised to keep an eye out. No more than that; we were careful with her hopes.
- Ismark told us privately that Gertruda is almost certainly dead. The only other possibilities he could name: Castle Ravenloft, or a coven of witches in the Ruins of Berez, to the south, who are said to take in wayward young women.
Open questions
- Is Gertruda anywhere we could actually reach? Berez is on the map of things we’ve only heard of.
